See and Be Seen at CES 2014 – Fugoo Bluetooth Speaker

This past January, the atmosphere in Las Vegas was buzzing with a different kind of electricity than usual. It marked the annual International CES trade show, otherwise known as the premier stage for technological innovations being introduced to the marketplace. The scene is inspiring to say the least, as gadgets are unveiled ranging from state-of-the-art virtual reality goggles, to a skullcap worn during sports to measure direct impact, to flat panel TV’s with four times the definition of regular HD. Talk about a real life techie wonderland!

This year also marked Fugoo’s maiden appearance at CES, and in a market already saturated with Bluetooth speakers, the competition was fierce: Over 60 new models were unveiled this year alone. But based on the press, it’s clear that the Fugoo Bluetooth speaker was certainly heard above the crowd.

Fugoo walked away with various prestigious awards, including the iPhoneLife “Best of CES” award, the Techlicious “Best of CES 2014” award in the wireless Bluetooth speaker category, and the Fugoo Tough received LAPTOP Magazine’s coveted “Best of CES 2014” award. Overall, Fugoo was lauded as the best portable Bluetooth speaker of CES – an honor we’re not taking for granted.

Within other various accolades, Fugoo stood out as the prime choice in durable, waterproof Bluetooth speakers in particular. Reviewers at CNet were surprised by the versatility of the Fugoo paired with its durability, saying, “For a device that can withstand a 5.5-foot drop, it’s pretty darn light.” And of the 40-hour battery life, testers raved:

“Now here’s my favorite spec of these new speakers: Fugoo touts that these speakers will last about 40 hours of continuous playback, at 50-percent loudness. That is insane.” Android Headlines

In that case, call us crazy. Fugoo Bluetooth speaker boasted double the continuous play time of most of the Bluetooth speaker competition at CES 2014. As for the skeptics who thought sound quality might be compromised in such a durable outer shell, Fugoo was able to deliver a pleasant surprise:

“Despite the non-stop din of the crowd, the Fugoo Tough speaker we demoed delivered booming bass with richly balanced highs and mids.” LAPTOP Magazine

Beyond its rugged functionality, conference-goers also touted Fugoo’s versatile interchangeable jackets, surprised at how easily they can be swapped in order to change the intended use of the speaker, or to replace in the unlikely event that a jacket become damaged. Geekbeat exclaimed at the design of the Fugoo Tough jacket in particular, stating, “The Fugoo Tough hard case [looks] like it could stop a nuclear bomb.” We gladly accepted the compliment.

Last but certainly not least, the crowds at CES 2014 were impressed with the multitude of mounting options and accessories that the Fugoo offers. Mashable and The Verge were both intrigued by the wireless wrist controller, the latter stating: “Fugoo is also making a wearable, fully waterproof Bluetooth smart remote with a lanyard and watch strap that can control your music and even activate Siri or Google Now — but the killer feature is the bottle opener on its back.”

Now that’s a review worthy of raising a glass to. Cheers to a great first experience at CES!
